Communication - we had a one to one discussion with Jerry, about my essay I handed in the week before. It was very helpful, because at least did not loose my confidence about the subject I am going to write about! However I do not get what the other essay is going to be about as we have to hand in 2 of them. So will ask Jerry if my other idea is good.
I haven't done much since last thursday in terms of starting to write my essay. Just have to go to library and start finding more materials so I can expand my essay on the subject.
Maths - I have finished the 3rd woorkbook in maths, so I will try to pass assesment on algebra this thursday in drop in class. Have to repeat all formulas next 2 days.
Last week I passed the second assesment on diagrams which Im very proud of! :)
Literature - had an assesment which I finished last tuesday, and for tomorrow we had to find a poem to talk about and maybe wright, which I did, I found the poem on friday.
I don't think I will have any problems with literature, but I have to wach out my spelling and articles, in writing essays.
Investigating Europe - I have materials for the essay, so I just have to start writing it.
Spanish language - I have done listening and reading not much,
I definately should work more on my spanish, all listening and trying to understand texts.
History - Had to read the first two chapters. Now there is an essay to write for the week after holidays and also read the next chapter from the book.

Week plan
I have written my plan for this week already.
Last week (week starting 29th September) we had to submit the essay in Communication, which I did, but I am not very happy about the essay, I think could have done better, but will see what Jerry thinks about it this week, maybe will extend this and do a presentation on that.
Maths went well, don't know how, but I managed to finish the workbook on diagramms. Have to work on that though, to pass the assessment this week.
In literature we had an assesment and we will have to finish it tomorrow. It wasn't anything hard, so I am not worried about it.
Spanish - I have not done much last week, but I have to work more on everything, listening and reading and find the words I can understand.

My targets diary
Targets for the Week starting 6th October:

Literature – read text one more time and have a wee think about it as we have to finish assessment on it on the 7th October.
Maths – practise diagrams and sit the assessment about it the next week.
Spanish – repeat all the words which I keep forgetting, like some family members and phrases, to be able to name numbers and say dates. Listen to Pimsleurs last part.
Investigating Europe – Start writing my investigation about the Latvian Song and dance festival. I spoke to Joe so we agreed that my plan was fine, it is just a case of investigating the materials I have.

Time usage
Basically I managed to do half of what I thought I will, but will get there :)
I was trying to translate one political atricle, an interview with Gorbachev. Also wanted to actually learn more new word, it is just a case of repeating and learning again.
And I think Natalie did very well, think you have not to be so harsh on yourself Nats!!!! :)

There must be a better song to sing
On our first day at college we were watching a film from early eighties, Educating Rita with Michael Caine (he was brilliant). Must say, I really liked it, it reminded me of other film,My Fair Lady at some point, where a professor is trying to turn a raw stone into the diamond. The main thing I liked about the film, was, that no matter how old or where one comes from, if one has a willingness to achieve something and change life, it is possible. They say that if you know what you want then it is a half of the success already.
In one of the scenes where everyone is in the pub singing some song, Rita's mother says "there must be a better song to sing", think that symbolised that she was sorry for herself and her life. At the beginning of the film Rita is just someone from lower class I would say, very straight in her opinion, seems everything is wether black or white, if we assume that we come from our childhood then it is pretty clear that this girl did not have enaugh attention from her parients.
I think this film was chosen by Dieca to show us what we should come out as :)
